Oh my gosh, I love when there are still sign out cards in the books! It takes me back to being a kid and all the times I would sign books out! Love it!
Our moment this week comes from Emma's fifth birthday celebration: http://ouronesweetfamily.blogspot.com/2013/02/this-moment-five-trips-around-sun.html
Our library is on a computer system now but some of the older books still have cards. I kind of miss them. Remember reading the names of older kids in your school who signed out the book? Living in a small town, a lot of those kids were teens or adults by the time I borrowed them!
My eldest is an independent reader now as well - I love to see her reading on her own. Reminds me of my own childhood and how I got lost in books. Love your moment!
I also loved the sign out cards, it was so magical to see who else had enjoyed the book. There is a connection between the readers in a lovely kind of way. You have a beautiful family!
My son checked out a book that still had a card in it and had to ask me about it. I explained and he decided that he needed to put his name on there as well...then he proceeded to use it as a book mark. Have a lovely weekend!
This space is a creative outlet for a busy mama; I warmly embrace your comments and feedback, as well as questions/requests for details. I do check them daily and will respond where appropriate! Thank you for visiting the Knitty Gritty Homestead!

ReplyDeleteLove the sign out card. I remember looking at them and seeing who took out what book and when. And clutching it just like Violet is!
